In this series entitled « Syncretism »
Cláudia CAMPOSS exposes paintings and collages, produced with elements
borrowed from the catholic, African and native religions.
For years, Cláudia has been trying to show the indignation she feels
when confronted to the contempt that contemporary civilization shows for the
Brazilian natives. Beginning with the colonizers, it was sustained
by the Jesuits and the other various religious orders. The evangelization was fed, for a long time, by the
conflictive interests of the landlords and the prospectors of territories,
and then it was maintained by the successive governments.
